  • Primary Focus
  • As a member of Enterprise Marketing and Risk Management (MRM) team, the Energy Trading Risk Management (ETRM) Junior Programmer/Analyst will be providing timely IT related application management services to the ETRM applications suite. Applications include: Openlink Endur/Findur, Egistix Oil, Entero, Kyriba and MCG (IAM).
  • Responsibilities

  • Participates in delivery of the MRM direction and vision by providing input into the development and implementation of MRM’s vision, goals and objectives.
  • Provides the following application related services to our Enterprise Marketing and Risk Management business clients, including Trading, Scheduling, Contracts, Confirmations, Market Risk, Credit Risk, Treasury and Accounting:
  • Work with other MRM System team members in delivery quality products and services.
  • Investigate reported system issues and bugs; identify and communicate alternatives for resolution to MRM Systems leadership; follow through on implementing chosen alternatives.
  • Work with MRM Business Analysts in understanding and clarifying business specifications for MRM systems modifications and/or enhancements.
  • Document and communicate technical design specifications for proposed solutions.
  • Develop and implement solutions in accordance with Enbridge coding standards and project guidelines.
  • Prepare and implement unit testing scripts according to established project guidelines.
  • Identify business functional and technical deficiencies in existing systems and/or processes.
  • Performs jointly with other resources in executing technical upgrades to MRM systems.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the Openlink, Egistix Oil and MCG (IAM) system functionality especially in terms of:
  • Interfaces to and from the applications (e.g. Oracle Financials, Egistix, ICE, etc.)
  • Key Business Concepts: Mark-to-Market (MTM), Profit & Loss (PnL), Delta, Value at Risk (VaR), Physical Commodity and Financial Derivative trades.
  • Tools (Java, Crystal Reports, Eclipse, .NET, Oracle (Stored Procedures) and techniques that are available as part of the MRM Systems application suite.
  • Work towards becoming a technical expert representative on the MRM Systems team by:
  • Continuing to enhance knowledge of the technologies that are used in support of the MRM systems (Java, PL/SQL, JVS (Openlink Scripting Language), Crystal Reports, .NET, Citrix, etc.).
  • Proactively mentor other IT members of the MRM Systems team (e.g. Java coding tips, Oracle tips and tricks, How-to write ups, etc.).
  • Be willing to be mentored by others on the team by conducting peer-based code reviews.
  • Participate in the development and improvement of key MRM Systems processes by collaborating with MRM Systems development team and Application Architect.
  • Collaborate with other members of MRM Systems to support & execute MRM Systems strategic vision.
  • Act as liaison between Operations and clients:
  • Be a communication point with identified business clients as required regarding MRM systems availability, functionality and processes.
  • Identify potential areas where existing policies, processes and/or procedures require change or where new ones need to be developed, and make recommendations where applicable.
  • Manage client expectations for service by employing effective negotiation and prioritization skills.

  • Qualifications
  • EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree in a related field, e.g. Computer Science, Management Information Management Systems or related discipline (equivalencies accepted).
  • YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

  • 0-4 years of progressive experience of application development and IT processes in the ETRM or Finance space.
  • Aptitude and communications skills related to leading and acting independently.
  • Proven interpersonal, communication, negotiation, influence and leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to be innovative, initiate, lead and manage change.
  • TECHNICAL AND BUSINESS KNOWLEDGE

  • Range of experience with information technology solutions, particularly with an oil and gas company.
  • Range of experience in IT project planning, process analysis, systems analysis, technical analysis, systems implementation and operations.
  • Direct experience working providing strategic direction for applications.
  • Experience in supporting an enterprise level system (e.g. common system used by more than a single client group).
  • Experience in TWO of the following programming languages/environments: Java, Oracle, PL/SQL, Crystal Reports, .NET, C/C#, AVS/JVS.
  • Working knowledge of alternative scripting and data manipulation tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Working knowledge of various ITIL and system management processes and procedures.
  • Possess a broad understanding of existing and emerging technologies and their relevance to helping meet client’s requests for service.
  • Demonstrated experience working with technical IT resources in designing, developing, testing and implementing related solutions.
  • Preferred:

  • Experience providing application support for one or more of the following systems: Openlink Endur/Findur, Egistix Oil, Entero, Kyriba and MCG (IAM).
  • Working knowledge of any of the following topic areas: MTM (Mark-to-Market), Profit and Loss (PnL), Value at Risk.
