Energy Trading Senior Settlements Analyst will be responsible for the start-up of the Trading Back Office for an international energy company expanding in the US Power market. In this role you will be verifying, confirming, settling and reporting the Company’s physical and financial trades.


  • Back Office set-up activities liaising with the Headquarters in Italy and local teams
  • Participate in daily, weekly and monthly settlement of physical and financial trading activities (Accounts Payable/Receivable)
  • Coordinate with counter-parties to resolve invoice reconciliation discrepancies proactively and timely
  • Assure accuracy and integrity of activity recorded in general ledger
  • Assuring optimization of the financial exposure, particularly referring to collateral, margining and cash deposits
  • Assist with generation of invoicing statements and cash forecasting, communicating progress with involved internal groups including the accounting team
  • Work within accounting team on responsibilities during busy times with cross training, ad-hoc reporting, audit inquiries, and process improvements
  • Develop an understanding of the market structure and build relationships with internal and external counter-parties, traders, position managers, operations and other areas
  • Reconcile commodity activity to ensure data quality, as well as communicating impacts to commercial and accounting teams
  • Understand contract details, fees, rates, and payment schedules to ensure all items for payment are captured in a timely manner
  • Identify, recommend and implement process improvements around settlement and accounting processes
  • Be knowledgeable of and ensure compliance with trading standards and other compliance requirements
  • Supporting the development and improvements of IT systems to capture and manage trading activity


  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business OR Associates Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business with 7+ years of experience in Accounting or Business.
  • 2+ years Commodity Settlement experience preferred.
  • Good working knowledge of energy trading and derivatives contracts, particularly referring to administrative management and regulatory compliance
  • Understanding of the US power wholesale market and of the financial market dynamics
  • Demonstrate good programming skills, ideally with experience in SAS, SQL Queries & VBA
  • Strong Problem solving and multitasking abilities, flexibility, and patience for working in a fast-paced and international environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and good attitude for process optimization
  • Knowledge of Italian would be appreciated
  • Strong academic qualifications, a degree in Economics/Business Administration
  • 3 years plus in similar position
  • Prior experience in structured team of large energy company or Investment Bank
