This position is responsible for managing the strategy and procurement of liquefied petroleum gases and the support of marketing/procurement of intermediate blendstocks for the Monroe Energy refinery. The position will work closely with the LPG/Intermediates Trader(s), Fuel Optimization team and Monroe refinery personnel in reviewing demands or sales of iso and normal butane as well as propane and other intermediates in order to properly optimize all downstream units at the Monroe refinery. The position will also be responsible for the strategy and procurement of domestic crude oil.
Job availability is 24/7 due to deadlines, job responsibilities, and interaction and involvement with Monroe organization. A significant amount of travel will be required in this role.
Will manage and develop one to two Trader(s) and/or Scheduler(s)
Oversee the development, negotiating and implementing of an iso and normal butane, procurement strategy to fulfill the Monroe Refinery demand as well as the program for selling Monroe's daily propane production
Work with the Fuel Optimization team to understand the opportunities that Monroe has within spare capacity in downstream units
Evaluate business opportunities in the Northeast and abroad for potential intermediate trading opportunities
Develop, negotiate and implement a crude oil procurement strategy to fulfill the Monroe Refinery demand
Work close with the various departments within the Supply and Trading team to understand the logistics and market impact of business decisions
Develop and recommend hedging strategies around crude, LPGs and intermediate opportunities
Build and maintain commercial relationships, while pursuing open credit lines for trading
Work to develop reports that bring transparency and accountability to the Fuel Department
Develop and support business development ideas to assist with the optimization of the refinery
Job requires a Bachelor's degree in Business/Finance/Engineering or Oil and Gas related degree. Masters degree in Business/Finance or equivalent is preferred. 5+ years of experience in Contract Negotiations, Energy Management, Supply Logistics, Finance or other highly analytical experience is preferred (including process engineering experience); minimum 3 years of experience required. Candidate must possess excellent communication skills. Must be able to work in a trading desk environment with exposure to changing priorities, tight deadlines and expectations that multiple projects can be managed concurrently. Candidate must be highly proficient in supplier communications, negotiations and conflict resolution. International business and supervisory experience is a plus.
