Market Risk Analyst – Physical Oil (Contract until January 2020)
This is a fantastic opportunity within Business Risk & Operations in Geneva, where you will join a driven and supportive team, dedicated to supporting our global Physical Oil business. This is a rare and exciting chance to work directly with, and support, the Front Office and work as part of a global Middle Office team to facilitate the growth of this business.
In this role you will be a subject matter expert across oil products and Macquarie's systems ensuring accurate risk reporting of trading positions within the global portfolio.
You will be responsible for calculating global VaR / Stress and analysing risk reports (current metrics vs P&L) to explain to the trading desks, and management, any significant changes against market moves and trading positions.
Engagement in risk discussions on the trading floor and in weekly risk meetings will be key for success in this role, alongside building strong relationships across the business, whilst providing timely risk insights into the trading portfolio to traders and senior management.
You will also maintain and share strong knowledge of trading portfolios and keep abreast of developments in the energy markets, contributing to enhance processes/procedures to broaden the scope, and increase the quality of our proprietary market data.
Furthermore, you will also assist with analytical reviews and deliver improvements to market risk processes, models and methodologies.
To flourish in this role, you will come equipped with demonstrable market risk experience gained within an energy/oil company, utility or trading house, with exposure to oil markets. You will possess a strong understanding of risk management and risk methodologies such as VaR, cVaR and Stress Testing coupled with solid knowledge of a commodity physical business: nature of market risks (time spread, basis risk etc.), logistics, physical assets (e.g. oil storage).
You will also bring your strong mathematical and modelling skills, including developed IT skills such as Excel (VBA). A programming language such as Python or MATLAB would be an advantage, but not essential.
Finally, excellent attention to detail, with the ability to break down complex problems and think conceptually, coupled with solid organisational and relationship building skills, will make you an excellent addition to our highly effective team.
If you are ready to step into a challenging and rewarding role, we look forward to hearing from you.
