Taking into account a customer’s entire energy portfolio, solutions are structured to provide competitive market pricing and to optimize energy usage and generation assets. We offer a complete suite of services to energy-intensive retail customers, from energy supply and hedging to on-site generation management and demand response. And we provide wholesale market access and ISO interface services to a broad network of retail energy providers with footprints across the deregulated markets. For power generation customers, we provide energy management services that encompass fuel supply, scheduling, dispatch, market analysis and risk management all within a single contract. Focused on service, we created a digital integrated platform and customer interface that allows transparent views into energy portfolios and invoices, market prices, analytics and weather.

Job Summary

The primary responsibility of the Midwest Gas Trader is to assist the Head of Midwest Gas Trading in all internal & external market making activities around regional financial markets, as well as develop profitable trading strategies and management of overall exposure in the EDF Trading portfolios.


Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute linear physical and financial gas trading strategies. This includes operations management, VAR management, and position management
  • Utilize position /strategy management techniques such as stop-loss limits, VAR and other analytical metrics
  • Seek and close short- and medium-term customer business to support trading goals and objectives
  • Support flow desk and flex desk strategies by providing liquidity and information flow
  • Participate when necessary in other EDFT trading and management meetings to facilitate cross commodity opportunities
  • Identify and support opportunities to add to the EDFT North America physical or contractual asset base.
  • Maximize trading asset performance

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting (Masters’ degree preferred)
  • Strong working knowledge of the natural gas industry and marketplace
  • Minimum 5 years of profitable natural gas futures trading experience, specifically in the Midcon region
  • Financial and analytical skills required for pricing, risk assessment and transaction structuring
  • Risk-management skills with respect to speculative trading books
  • Solid foundation with Excel, VBA, SQL
  • Entrepreneurial self-starter able to work in a fast paced, team environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently while fostering external professional relationships
  • Expert analytical skills required for development of fundamental, technical, and pricing models
