THE POSITION

The Storage Operations Analyst plays a key role in monitoring and maintaining battery and other solar storage facilities. This position will be responsible for helping achieve maximum revenue and efficiency for our renewable energy storage customers by identifying and initiating appropriate responses for conditions related to safety, production, and performance. In this highly analytical and new process creation role, the analyst will collect daily production data and perform energy simulation analyses on Sunnova’s fleet of solar storage systems operating in many of the mainland states and territories. This position will utilize technical knowledge of PV and advanced battery engineering and will support and serve as an intermediary between production team, field technical operations and asset management in identifying and managing systems needing site visits. This role will need substantial experience in working with large data sets, conducting root cause analyses and visualizing data in a variety of formats for identifying trends and outliers. A practical understanding of field applications is also needed to translate the data to usable results and procedures for technicians.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Identify new data indicators of incorrect system performance
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analyses of performance issues affecting solar systems
  • Assist in the technical evaluation of OEM and Supplier proposals related to storage and other PV related components
  • Establish procedures to detect incorrect performance indicators
  • Build out field processes to correct various types of incorrect system performance
  • Constantly work to improve processes to be more accurate and efficient.
  • Build dashboards in Tableau to help business units access performance and other operations data
  • Assist in the development of forecasts and pro-forma analyses
  • Provide periodic and ad-hoc reports on production and operations metrics to internal business units
  • Design and implement automated reporting to support recurring activities of the business
  • Perform other duties as assigned

SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE/SKILLS

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical discipline
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in asset management and/or field operations
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the Solar Industry
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Working with databases and writing SQL for querying datasets (preferred)

KNOWLEDGE AREAS

  • Data visualization experience in Tableau or similar visual analytics tools
  • Hands-on experience with database technologies and in handling very large datasets
  • Effectively communicate complex analyses and conclusions to non-technical audience
  • Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
  • Track record of handling multiple priorities and tight timelines

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Solar energy industry and/or battery experience is highly preferred, especially advanced battery or lithium ion battery experience
  • Technical knowledge in analyzing equipment performance and identifying performance issues using software tools.
  • Knowledge of data mining techniques and applications of statistical principles
  • Experience in numerical and statistical analyses
  • Experience with Salesforce is a plus
