Schedulers play an important role in executing trading strategies, asset strategies, and overall supply chain processes. The Trading Operator/Scheduler role is responsible for adding value by optimizing product quality through gasoline and component movement of products by barge, vessel, pipeline, truck and rail. Schedulers are a critical operational interface with business partners both internally and externally and play a vital role to the overall operation of BP's assets while providing commercial direction. This role will work closely with the Light Ends (GLights) and Distillates (GOFO) Traders, Gasoline Blenders and Fuels North America (FNA) teams to support, grow and add value to BP’s business.

Key accountabilities:

  • SPA for all Florida Scheduling Activities. Schedule all movements into Florida, manage inventory to FNA metrics and requirements.
  • Optimize inventory utilizing problem solving skills and external relationships to provide Traders full optionality with cargos on the water.
  • Schedule International Vessels, managing all quality, quantity, import and export requirements.
  • Schedule Gasoline and Gasoline Component barges within the Gulf Coast region.
  • Maximize product value, manage product quality, inventory and operations for corresponding mode of transport.
  • Build and maintain relationships with external contacts utilizing these relationships to help execute strategy. External contacts include counterparts, inspection personnel, terminal personnel and others.
  • Execute profitability objectives of Traders and Business Units by identifying and implementing commercial opportunities. Communicate positions and provisions effectively to critical internal partners.
  • Identify and execute alternatives during planned or unplanned disruptions considering the commercial impact of these decisions.
  • Ensure scheduling activities support inventory reconciliation and settlement activities. Take ownership of inventory variance working with the appropriate parties to resolve to acceptable tolerances.
  • Provide relief coverage to other GLights Operation roles which may include Pipeline, barge, vessel, truck or rail scheduling which will provide candidate with experience and growth in multiple modes of transport.

Essential Education:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Essential experience and job requirements:

  • Schedulers deal with numerous internal and external customers, therefore it’s extremely important that Schedulers always utilize BP’s Core Values and Global Trading Guidelines. Communication skills are extremely important in this role.
  • Candidate must be resilient and open to continuous change, a good problem solver who can be patient while awaiting the pieces of the puzzle that will fulfill the supply needs.
  • Strong bias for action. Takes initiative towards Continuous Improvement. Driven. Problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing competing priorities accurately and timely within a specified timeline.
  • Strong analytical skills, including the use of Microsoft Excel.
  • Commercially focused but balanced with a bias towards safe & compliant execution.
  • Ability to recognize the feasibility of trading opportunities given the current operating environment and provide strong and constructive feedback to the trading benches.

Desirable criteria & qualifications:

  • Prior logistics or operational experience
  • Preferred candidate will have performed a role that had direct interaction with a Scheduling Role or have attended a scheduling course to have been exposed to Scheduling to have an understanding of Scheduler’s responsibilities.
  • Experience with Front Office Trading terms and activities.
  • Desire and ability to advance career in a commercially focused role.
